More About Hypnosis
Will hypnosis work if you don't believe in it?
In my experience, hypnosis is extremely effective even for those who claim not to believe in it. However, telling yourself that you cannot change can become a self-fulfilling prophecy. Medical research has shown time after time that even widely accepted treatments are less effective for those who do not believe they will get better.
Can anyone be hypnotized?
Yes, although certain people respond better to hypnotic suggestion. Each person is an individual, and each person can go to different levels of hypnosis. For hypnotherapy a deep state is not always necessary; a light state is almost always sufficient to proceed
Does being a good hypnotic subject mean Im gullible or weak-minded?
Studies conducted at Stanford University have shown that intelligence is not an important factor in determining an individuals ability to respond favorably to hypnosis. Statistically, however, there is some evidence to indicate that persons with higher intelligence and greater creative abilities tend to be somewhat more responsive to suggestion.
Is hypnosis dangerous?
Hypnosis is a very relaxing, safe and natural state of mind. There has not been one documented case of hypnosis doing harm to a person. The only time hypnosis could be dangerous is if you are driving or operating machinery. You should not listen to a hypnotic tape under those circumstances.
How will you hypnotize me?
I will ask you to make yourself comfortable, close your eyes and relax. Using carefully constructed language and the tone of my voice, I will guide you into, and afterwards, out of a hypnotic state.
What if I don't come out of the hypnotic state?
You will. Nobody has ever gotten stuck in a hypnotic state. Even if you fall asleep, your natural clock will wake you eventually.
